UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM Department Mission Statement
The mission of the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics is to produce graduates who have a solid background in the fundamentals of their disciplines, to foster intellectual maturity, and to emphasize high moral and ethical standards. The division also develops technical knowledge that is relevant to their fields and prepares students to meet the professional and social challenges of a complex and rapidly changing world.
Graduates will leave our program with solid technical and professional competencies and will be good citizens who strive for high moral and ethical standards in their personal and professional lives. Our graduates will be aware of contemporary local, national and global issues, to become lifelong learners, and to seek continual professional improvements to adapt to the ever-changing technological demands of the contemporary workplace.
Departmental Objectives
To create and maintain a high quality education for students.
To provide students an analytical ability to solve problems using mathematic, computer, and information sciences in a socially responsible way so they may continue to apply their knowledge as technology evolves.
To provide up-to-date technology and laboratory experiences so students will have a technological skill that is current in the workplace.
To encourage faculty professional development so that faculty members remain current in their field.
To support faculty and students in scholarly research activities.
Departmental Requirements
Complete a minimum of 121 credit hours, including all general education requirements, with a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 2.0.
Complete all major courses with a minimum grade of “C“
Complete all course requirements and credit hours specified by the degree program.
Complete a senior project.
Complete the department exit examination.
GRADUATE PROGRAM
MASTER OF SCIENCE - COMPUTER EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
Master of Science Degree in Computer Educational Technology is an educational computing and technology facilitation endorsement (TF) programs meeting ISTE standards for preparing candidates to serve as building/campus-level technology facilitators. It requires 30 semester hours for candidates who already have a state Professional Teacher Certification.
This master's degree program in Computer Educational Technology trains students in the use of various technologies in educational settings including classrooms and professional developments. Graduates from this program will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to work in the public or private sector planning, developing, and implementing technology-based educational materials and programs.
A unique feature of this program is the hands-on training in the new emerging technology innovative to face the rapidly changing world of 21st century education industry.
