The English major/minor provides an important
foundation in advanced writing and research skills for graduates
entering fields such as religion, business, government, law, marketing,
advertising, communications, public relations, education, and print and
broadcast journalism.
A major in English also prepares students for graduate study in English
language and literature. Upon the recommendation of the English
advisor, English majors may minor in a number of disciplines. Students
desiring to teach English at the middle or secondary school level will
be directed to contact the School of Education.
Graduation Requirements
This degree program requires a minimum of 122 semester hours for
completion. English majors must take a minimum of 39 credits in English
at the 200 level or above.
